Group, Northern Nigeria Youths for Peace and Political Unity (NOYPO), on Sunday declared support for the Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Muhammad Matawalle over his recent measures to address the security issue in the State.
The National Secretary of the group, Barr Abdullahi Ahmed Kalgo in a message entitled “Bandits: Insecurity challenges in our Zone, Gov Bello Mutawalle is serious”, called on the people of the state, North and the federal government to support him in this course in the interest of the country.
The group noted that states governors bordering Zamfara state, that is Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, Niger, Katsina should urgently cooperate with Governor Matawalle’s new tactical idea to fighting banditry, “they should support it for the success of new security measures in fighting against insecurity in the region”.
The group is further hopeful that, with such measures especially by promoting an atmosphere of understanding, unity and sharing of information about the movement of bandits and strategies for the successful outing for the fight against them, the challenge is surmountable.
According to the group, “going by the action so far taken by governor Matawalle of Zamfara state with other stakeholders in the state, the measures of curtailing insecurity challenges will be of paramount advantage. Therefore, governors of Kebbi, Kaduna, Niger, Sokoto and Katsina states respectively are expected to complement such gesture with their support, efforts and commitment toward bringing an end to these challenges affecting the region.
“Zamfara government should blacklist any filling stations or community that disregard this new measures.
“We urged security operatives to be cautious on handling this measures as not to become burden or suffering on law-abiding citizens of the state.
“Northern Nigeria youths are behind Governor Bello Muhammad Mutawalle on this great decision, support his efforts toward ensuring sustainable development and ensuring security and peace in his state.
“We appeal to our people in Zamfara to make this temporary sacrifice for the success of these measures especially due to closure of markets and movement of goods. It will pay off.
“Federal government should support governor Matawalle and any other one who genuinely show commitment to the fight against insecurity and banditry activities in his state”, the group recommended.
