Southern Kaduna unrest: Kafanchan gets Mobile Police Unit soon – Gobroadsheet

AS efforts to end killings in Southern part of Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria continue, The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris Saturday said, the Federal Government would establish a Mobile Police Unit in Kafanchan, Jema’a local government to provide maximum security in the area.
The Police boss, who stated this during a Stakeholders meeting held at the local government’s secretariat in Kafanchan shortly after visiting the attacked communities by gunmen in the area that claimed several lives and property, said the unit will check crime and illegality in the zone.
The meeting had in attendance, Security Personnels, the Local Government Authority, Traditional Rulers and Religious Leaders from various Chiefdoms in the area.
IG Ibrahim, who was accompanied by top ranking Police Officers visited Goska and Dangoma villages in Jema’a local government area for on the spot assessment of the situation.
Ibrahim further said that, the Unit to be established would serve as a Quick Response Unit in the eventuality attacks or any civil unrest in the area, pledging that, “the Nigeria Police is determined to restore normalcy in the affected communities”.
He said a committee would be constituted to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the recent disturbances and assured that those found wanting would face the full wrath of the law to serve as bad example to others.
He gave the assurance that necessary measures had been taken to ensure hitch-free new year celebration and urged the people to give the security outfit necessary support.
The IG commended the traditional and religious leaders in the area towards ensuring peaceful coexistence amongst the people and enjoined them not to relent in the gesture.
The IG however urged the people to desist from spreading false reports explaining that such rumors were capable of misleading the public.
