Indigenes of Manchok, a community in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have called on the Federal and Kaduna State government, to launch probe into the activities of Quiant Global Energy Nigeria Limited over an alleged claim of plans to plant solar facility within the community.
Spokesperson of the Community and the Madakin Moro’a, Mallam Isiaku Sambo who spoke with Journalists yesterday, at Manchok said the Community had denied any knowledge on the solar facility project, saying that the Firm was sighted in a farm land carrying out soil testing which it had claimed to have conducted.
“The Community maintains that the development is a swift reaction by the Firm to cover up its shady deal and to further mislead government and the people,” he alleged.
Mallam Sambo further added that the community was skeptical about activities of the Company as there was no any official correspondence from any quarters to that effect.
He further stressed that the digging of the soil undertaking by the Firm posed security threat to the community, quickly added that, “no body knows what is being planted there.”
Sambo then urged government to as a matter of urgency intervene in the situation to save the community from any unlawful act perpetrated by individuals or group .
Meanwhile, when contacted, the Director of Quaint Global Energy Nigeria Limited, Mr. Seun Solasi dismissed the allegation, describing it as baseless, while explaining that it was impossible to obtain an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) illegally.
The Director further disclosed that the Firm had a written letter issued by Kaura LGA as evidence to prove the community’s involvement in the EIA.
Mr Solasi said the project which is expected to commence before the end of this year would eventually serve the generality of the community.
