SIM Reg: ENA Prospects, MTN Share 17 Motorbikes Worth N3.9m To Field Operators In Kaduna, Niger States

In order to check the spate of crimes associated with ilegal sales of pre-registered SIM cards on Nigerian streets, ENA Prospects Nigeria Ltd in partnership with MTN Nigeria, have distributed 17 motorbikes to field operators in Kaduna and Niger States.
The motorbikes, said to worth N3.9 million, was distributed to enable these benefiaries carry out SIM registrations in their franchise areas to ensure compliance to regulatory body’s directive of proper registrations to check the activities of unscrupulous agents.
Handing over the motorbikes to the beneficiaries in Kaduna on Monday, Manager, Sales and Trade Development, North-central, MTN, Hajiya Fatimah Abba Paris said, the initiative, was aimed at driving compliance as regulators have demanded.
She said, “for us, ENA Prospects is our registration agency and we are trying to drive compliance as regulators have demanded. It is our responsibility to ensure that whatever customer we bring on our network, are properly registered.
“We also want to ensure that, people are not selling pre-registered SIM cards on our streets. So, the agency has put in place the outlets where we have street registration officers that are doing compliance registrations for the business.
“What can help them do better in what they are doing is to monitor the space. So, when you have a fraudulent agent, it is easy for you to pick him out. This is going to ease their transportation issue because a lot of them cover wide distances.
“It will also give them a sense of belonging because the motorbikes are given on the basis of best performance. The expectation is to ensure efficiency, compliance and making sure subscribers are duly registered because we have regulation we need to follow”, she added.
General Manager, Business Development and Strategies, ENA Prospects, Edeke Nnihn, noted that, the challenge of covering streets for SIM registrations would be addressed with the empowerment.
“It is an initiative driving by MTN. These motorbikes are meant to improve our performance basically. One of the challenges we have had in the space has been landmass. With this, we believe that, there will be better monitoring, better yield, better gross and most importantly, vocal point to MTN as a business is compliance.
“Compliance in terms of registrations to reduce fraudulent registrations. With the spate of insecurity, a lot is going on that has to do with SIM cards, kidnapping and all that. So, this will help us do proper monitoring of our space.
Also speaking, General Manager, Operations, ENA Prospects, Ayodele Sebiotimo, said, “we are here in Kaduna today to empower our youths with these 17 motorbikes. We call them field operation officers.
“We have about 1,000 field operators in Kaduna and Niger States. We have chosen the best 34 of them. But we are giving 17 out today and in another three months, we are going to give another 17.”
One of the beneficiaries, simply identified Babatunde, expressed gratitude saying, “unlike before, when we have to jump on Okada and keke NAPEP before we could do our work. But now, we have been empowered to do better because we can now move at our own pace to reach the nooks and crannies of our areas of coverage.”
