Security: Sen Laah donates 16 cars, 87 motorcycles to Southern Kaduna

Following incessant breach of security in Southern Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria, Senator representing the region at upper chamber of National Assembly, Abuja, Danjuma Laah (Shettima Kagoro), over the weekend, donated 16 Gulf wagon cars and 87 motorcycles worth N14million to local security outfit.
Some communities in the region have for years, under incessant attacks from armed bandits many of whom have turned the people of the community into automated teller machine as they use to kidnap the locals for good ransom.
Though the State government has over the years trying its best to put the situation under control, but there are still pocket of kidnapping, robbery, animal rustling among others. This is why analysts believe the latest intervention by the senator is timely and would in no small measure, compliment the efforts of security agencies to make the area safer.
The motorcycles and cars which was distributed to the entire 87 political wards, is to complement the security network initiative of the senator.
In addition, Senator Danjuma Laah Foundation has empowered over 4,707 youths in various aspect of endeavours , especially in skills acquisition and security.
Speaking on rationale behind the intervention in Kafanchan, the headquarters of Ja’ma local government area of the state, Senator Laah hinted that it is important to present his stewardship to the people who gave him their mandates to represent them after one year in office.
He further explained that as part of his resolve to ensure peaceful coexistence within his senatorial district and in fulfillment of his promise during his campaign, he has engaged 4,350 people including youths, men and women in the security outfit of his area because as locals, they know the terrain better.
The security, (vigilante group), popularly known as ‘Iyabanga’ has about 50 security men and women in 87 political wards across the 8 local government areas within his constituency.
According to the lawmaker, his foundation in partnership with Coca-Cola Nigeria, has so far trained 174 youths as small scale marketers and will be provided with branded Coca Cola kiosks, tables and chairs, umbrellas plus 50 creates of assorted drinks with coolers and refrigerator for each trainee to start with.
He further said, his in collaboration with the National Unity and Peace Corps (NUPEC), also engaged 164 young people to assist in the security of live and property of the entire Southern
Kaduna. Adding that 19 people were also support to join the federal civil service within the year in review.
He also made a presentation of 450 seaters capacity study centre to the National Open University (NOUN) to ease education needs of his people.
NOUN Study centre which is sited at Kpak Kagoro will also run programme with Harvard University and other renowned Institutions with the aid of latest 3D video Technology and also assist facilitate the revolutionary face-to-face lectures across continents, according to Shettima.
“Coca cola Plc are waiting for shipment of the last consignment. The disbursement of these items are to be in the next few weeks, as soon as the products arrive the country. All payment of these items has been settled, it is in the sum N14 million.
