Resurgence Of Banditry In Zamfara: Call Yari To Order Now Northern Youths Appeal To Buhari

The Northern Youths Frontiers (NYF) rose from its two-day meeting in Kaduna to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to call the immediate past governor of Zamfara State, Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar to order over his alleged role in resurgence of banditry in the State.
The group, which held its annual meeting between November 26-27, at a hotel in Kaduna where it deliberated on developmental issues in the country and insecurity challenging some parts of the region said, its interest was peaceful atmosphere in the region.
A statement issued after the meeting by Dr. Abubakar Salisu Taruni and Hon Sirajo Habib Tsafe, Chairman and Secretary respectively was particular what they called recent over heating ofpolitics cum security threats in Zamfara state between Governor Bello Matawalle and former governor Abdul’aziz Yari.
The statement read in part, “the association unequivocally commended Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle Maradun, over his genuine commitment and determination of bringing and implementing peace dialogue with suspected bandits and collaborative efforts in handling insecurity issue which is currently yielding positive resultsas banditry has seized in the state and drastically reduced other criminal activities and terror in the neighboring Sokoto, Katsina and Kaduna States.
“The Northern Youths are solidly behind him over his efforts of redeeming the state from terror into new leaf of peace, unity and political cohesion among all the segment of life in the state. We urged him to extend the frontiers of peace and brotherliness to all other states bordering Zamfara towards ensuring the sustainable peace, security and freedomof movement.
“The Youths condemn in strong terms the attitudes of former Zamfara state governor, Alhaji Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar and his supporters for their continued confrontational acts and sabotaging theongoing peace efforts and reconciliation initiative of the Zamfara state government with bandits.
“The Association urged President Buhari to call Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar to order as means of ensuring that the current security being enjoyed in Zamfara state is not breached. Yari’s zenith of ingratitude after destroying almost all the sectors of development on his eightyears due to poor governance yet he’s still trying to become a stumbling block of peace in the region.
“We are begging Mr President to put a stop to some attitudes of Abdul’aziz Yari and his acolytes over their alleged plans to disrupt peace and political cohesion enjoined in the state by creating political instability that will bring back enmity and hatred among political class of the state in the name of opposition. Such acts will only returns the young state and region into another chaos, fear and unleash terror among the people.”
On the recent revelation of whooping sum for ex top political representatives in Zamfara, the group further commended the State’s Assembly for taken a drastic measures to weight the wrong.
“While commending the stand of Zamfara state house of assembly of taking bull by the horn on repelling the controversial pension bill of political office holders, however, we urged them to organize a public hearing to investigate atrocities include looting of state treasury allegedly committed by immediate past administration of Abdul’aziz Yari in the state,” the statement added.
