- Caution ACF over reckless utterances
Group, Northern Youths Initiative and Political Congress (NOPCO) on Sunday lambasted PANDEF, Ohaneze, others for mounting verbal attacks on Zamfara State Governor, Be Matawalle over his alleged approach to tackle banditry.
The group in a statement by its Chairman, Yusuf Abubakar, express displeasure over the development.
Abubakar further expressed displeasure with certain statements credited to Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Ohaneze Ndigbo, PANDEF and others who are playing to the gallery on the recent write-up response in defence of Northerners leaving in southern Nigeria by the Governor of Zamfara State.
According to this group, “truly, Governor Bello Muhammad made it clear that enough is enough over the continued attacks and butchering of Hausa people leaving in the South due to ethnic and hatred by some suspected hooligans and thugs in that region.
“We are aware that just recently, some miscreants under the watchful eyes of their leaders attacked and killed many Hausa people at Orlu, Imo state, few months after same attacks on Hausa community in Sasha Market, Ibadan, Oyo state.
“Despite our accommodative posture of giving shelter and protecting their dignity and well being, Igbo people are taking this issue far in open attacks and destruction of properties of our dear people due to a reason best known to them in their areas.
“Therefore, we are so touched and happy when a sitting governor, governor of Zamfara state with all the great respect and courage to come out and send a warning against such injustice meted against the particular tribe of this country to bring an end to such killings.
“Northern youths are fully behind him and support such a move to bring a lasting solution to killing of these innocent people in the south.
“His words have justified his action by the process he followed in reaching out to some of his colleagues in the North to unite and confront such ugly trends of attacks against Hausa community in the South.
“We condemn in totality the meddlesome of Ohaneze and PANDEF on issues that entirely affect the survival of our people, where they questioned the action and reaction of Zamfara governor on the carnage happening under their watch in the south without taking any action to remedy the continue attacks.
“The Ohaneze and PANDEF do not belong to North and cannot threaten northern leaders that have a genuine intention of protecting and safeguarding their people like governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle.
“We also frown at the involvement of Arewa Consultative Forum of becoming so silent after these constant attacks on Northerners, only to voice their opinion against the Zamfara state governor and other imminent Northerners that have expressed their worries and concern on the escalation of such injustice against Hausa community.
“We call on ACF to immediately withdrawal such statement and seek audience with Gov Bello Muhammad and other imminent Northerners to unite and bringing a lasting solution to save our people in the South.
“The Federal Government needs to urgently pacify these victims by giving them compensation and create an avenue of bringing unity and cohesion among us so that these hooligans can stop hiding under the hatred to perpetrate such crime against innocent Hausa traders and community.
“The Northern governors’ Forum need to urgently visit Imo and Anambra States to get to the roots of these crises to bring a lasting solution of peace to our people”
