Ondo auto crash claims 17 lives

17 persons lost their lives on Tuesday when their bus burst into flames after having head collision with articulated vehicle at Igushin Town, along Ondo-Ore Expressway in Ondo West local government area of Ondo State.
According to a witness, the 18-seater capacity bus somersaulted several times after the collision, before bursting into flames.
Only one passenger of the bus survived, the witness said.
The Head of Operation of the state Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Akin Akin Adedipe, confirmed the incident.
Mr. Adedipe described the vehicle as a white Mazda 18-passenger bus with registration number BWR 116 XC and a white DAF Truck with registration number AAA757XN.
He said the lone survivor was severely injured.
According to him, those dead include 11 males, six females and one male child whose identities were yet to be ascertained.
Mr. Adedipe said the deceased had been taken to the mortuary of the State Specialists Hospital in Ondo town.
He appealed to motorists to always abide by the road traffic laws to save their lives and that of other road users.
