National body of Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) has other the Kaduna Council to proceed on its planned conduct of bye-election on or before January 31st 2017 to fill the vacuum in Chairmanship of the council.
The conduct of the bye-election followed the impeachment of the former chairman, Garba Muhammad on the 8th September, 2016 on the ground of professional misconduct.
President of the Union, Abdulwaheed Odusile gave the order in a statement he personally signed and copied the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police copy of which was made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday.
The State Council had earlier set up a five members credentials committee and fixed March 5th, 2017 for the bye-election, but the National President said the bye-election must now be conducted within the time frame of January 31st.
He approved the list of five members of the credentials committee, namely Andrew Fadason as Chairman, Hassan Abba, Secretary while others like John Shiklam, Salisu Ibrahim and Stella Bature as Members.
Odusile equally directed that the council enlist the support of the Nigeria Police whenever the need arises to ensure there is no breach of security at anytime within the NUJ press centre.
The NUJ President then urged the council to always liaise with the National Secretary throughout this period for guidance and necessary direction.
