With mechanism currently put in place for farmers in Kaduna, they are likely to be the next category of Nigerians that would be able to comfortably acquire private jets to expand their agric business across the globe if modern farming method is embraced, the State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has said.
The governor said his administration is investing heavily in agricultural infrastructures which will enable farmers in the state to have access to international markets which he believed would help them make fortunes.
El-Rufai who sated this during official presentation of Nano organic fertilizer been produced by a Thailand firm called Succesmore, at Arewa House, Kaduna on Wednesday further stated that, the state government now has in place agricultural extension workers who will assist the farmers from time to time so they can meet up with international standard just as he appealed to farmers to get their farm certified.
Represented by Commissioner of Agriculture Dr Daniel Manzo Maigari, El-Rufai said, “80 percent of our people are smallholder farmers and the best we can do for them as a government is to encourage them. Many of them have been doing farming the way our fathers did it in the past and getting same results.
“You can make up to N40million in every year if you do the needful. That is why we are saying farmers are the next to use private jets in Nigeria. We also understand that, agricultural infrastructures are lacking in Nigeria. We don’t have oil in Kaduna but we are set to make ourselves the best when it comes to agriculture.
“We should begin seeing agriculture as business. NPK fertilizer apart from been expensive is only used here in Nigeria. Serious countries don’t use it and that is why we need to go for organic which is saver for both the soil, plant and even human. You can imagine, one litre can be applied on 20 hectares of land which is equivalent to eight bags of NPK fertilizer.
Chief Executive Officer of Nano Fertilizer, Matthew Olubola James said, the liquid organic fertilizer based on his personal experience in Thailand which is leading exporter of farm produce in the world, propelled him to come back to Nigeria to introduce the brand which he said is ten times better, saver cost effective than what is currently obtainable in Nigeria.
He said the fertilizer is “chemical free and can be used for all N and of plant. It will help farmers to produce pesticide free plant, control cost, gives high yield returns and save for human because it is void of chemicals like pesticides.
In a remark, District Head of Barnawa, Dr. Kabir Zubair said he was happy with the company and ready to mobilize farmers to embrace modern way of farming especially with the use of newly introduced organic fertilizer which is been supported by the state government.
