Man, 30 nabbed for raping 3 minors in Kaduna

Kaduna Police Command yesterday arrested a 30 year old man, Shafiu Bello, for raping three girls of ages 7 and 8 in Badarawa area of Kaduna North local government, Kaduna state.
The minors (names withheld), who were still in shock when newsmen visited the Primary Healthcare Centre, Badarawa, where they have being examined, alleged that the suspect enticed them with N5 and N10 with death threat should they tell anyone about his nefarious activities with them.
One of the girls told this correspondent that Shafiu has being having her canal knowledge close to a year now but could not tell anyone because of the threat and financial promises. The three of them were living in the same neighbourhood though not from the same family.
On how and when the incident do take place, they said he always enticed then when they are running errands for their parent within the area.
Luch however ran out of the suspect when his last victim could not easily urinate which drew her mother’s attention before the girl eventually let the cat out of bag.
The father of one of the girls, Hamisu Bala, said the suspect confessed to the allegation when he was confronted. He added that it took the intervention of security person for the suspect not to have being lynched by angry mob who storm the area when they got the news.
He further alleged that the suspect do perform his rituals with the girls in his apartment though at different spot.
According to him, “What he does is to lay in wait for the girls when they are running errand for their parents. He would not go to work but keep waiting for the girls to come out. We are worried about the whole thing because we do not even know whose turn it will be tomorrow.
“Are they telling us not to have female children again? What is government doing to bring the perpetrators to deserving punishment because this is certainly not the first time this is happening. We are really worried as parents”, he lamented.
Leader of Badarawa/Malali Concern Forum, simply identified as Lema, said the suspect was handed over to the police in order not to degenerate.
Effort to speak with the police on the matter as at press time was not successful due to poor communication network.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), North-west Zonal Secretary, Hajiya Daharatu Aliyu, who was also present at the hospital expressed dismay over the development, called for enlightenment on parents who tries to silent such ungodly act.
