Following series of controversies that trailed proposed demolition of Kaduna community called Gbagyi Villa,Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria, Students of the Kaduna Polytechnic, the acclaimed owner of the encroached property, on Monday threw their weight behind the state Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai to do all he can to recover the land for the institution.
the Governor has personally visited the area recently where he confirmed that the institution’s property have been encroached by the residents of the area.
The students, who spoke through Union President, Comr. Usman Kareem, said the over 20,000 students of the institution are solidly behind governor El-Rufai’s move to recover the encroached land because the encroached area would have been developed for their use.
speaking to newsmen, Usman said the students are not really care about the means the governor may employ, the important thing as far as he is concerned is to recover the land from the residents of the community.
he said, “we don’t want to know whichever means the governor is using to recover the land, but we commend the governor for his bold initiative so far.
“We also wish to warn those introducing ethnicity and religious sentiment into the issue in order to deceive the general public to desist from such moves. The whole encroached school has no hostels, no enough classrooms and workshops, adding that if the land is recovered, some of these problems will be addressed.
“The host community is expected to embrace federal establishment within their domain hence those fanning embers of crisis should desis and embrace peaceful co-existence,” he added.
