Kano: Abba Kicks As Ganduje Hands Over N241.5bn Debt In Proxy

The Kano State Governor-elect, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusif was not happy as the outgoing Governor, Umar Ganduje handed down to him an N241.5 billion debt through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Usman Alhaji.
The SSG officially handed over documents of power to him on behalf of the outgoing governor during a ceremony that took place at Government House, Kano.
According to the SSG, “comprehensive handing-over notes” had been provided in ensuring that the incoming administration has all the necessary details which will serve as a reference.
Reacting, Abba Yusif expressed surprise at the “departure of the democratic process” saying, the outgoing governor was supposed to hand over the affairs of the state by himself as it was the tradition of democracy.
Mr. Abba decried that the handing over notes were very “scanty”, promising that he with his team would do their best to ensure that the ‘Kanawa’ are governed well.
”It is so disheartening to hear that the outgoing administration has left a debt of over N200 billion for us. We will go through the handover notes and act as applicable.
“We are not here to loot money. We are here to work for the people and Insha Allah, we will succeed”, Abba hopeful.
