Kaduna inferno: Sani donates N1m to victims
From Sola Ojo, Kaduna
Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district, Senator Shehu Sani, had donated sum of N1million to victims of Kaduna station market fire disaster that happened early hour of Tuesday.
Sen. Sani gave the money when he visited the scene of incidence yesterday.
Addressing the affected traders, the lawmaker also pledged to sponsor the education of the two children of one of the deceased who died in the fire incidence for two years.
He blamed the fire incidence on the Railway Station for relocating them from their original site which is just a stone-throw from current location.
“The market is an historic market, no one living in Kaduna that has not benefited from the market. So I’m here to sympathize with you over the unfortunate incident that affected all of us in Kaduna South and not only you.
“As a senator representing this zone, I
have written a letter to Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, urging him to send representative to see things for themselves.
“The only assistance they offer you is for you to relocate back to your original place.
“The place has been abandoned and now
taken over by snakes and weeds. The best is for the management of Railway Station to relocate you back to your original place because this place is congested.
“As for the deceased who lost his life in
the fire inferno, I will sponsor the kids for two years,” he said.
He however appealed to the traders to avoid future occurrence of such disaster.
