How we snatch Prof Ajibola’s Mercedes Benz C300 inside ABU, Zaria – Armed robber suspects confess

30-year-old Nuru Aiyedun alongside Suleiman Lawan 36 and Ishaku Hyelakuri 32, are currently cooling their feet at Police station in Kaduna over alleged conspiracy and armed robbery.
Police Spokesman in Kaduna, DSP Zubairu Abubakar who confirmed the incident said once the police is done with investigation, the suspects would be charged to court accordingly. //Gobroadsheet//
The trio had on Sunday 3rd of April, 2016, robbed their victim who is a Lecturer with Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Professor V O Ajibola at gunpoint, right inside the university’s staff quarters, Samaru, Zaria and snatched his Mercedes Benz C300, his mobile phones and other valuables and bolted.
Luck however ran out on them when their victim raised an alarm that attracted the attention of some of security agents attached to the quarters who eventually got the suspect arrested and handed them over to the Police for prosecution.
Meanwhile, when Gobroadsheet visited the suspects at Special Anti Robbery Squad department in Kaduna where they have been reprimanded, they all confessed to the allegation but blamed devil and frustration for their action.
According to Nuru, a graduate of Geography from Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger State, he has not been gainfully employed five years after leaving the university hence the need for the hustling. //Gobroadsheet//
“Yes we did what they are accusing us of. He’s actually my uncle okay and we felt he can always get another car whenever. It was devil that led me to that and I am already regretting my action.
“Look at the shame we have brought to our family. The name they have been maintaining before we were born. I seek their forgiveness and promise that if I’m out of here I will never involve in this form of crime again.
“But then, I have what I was doing to make money before now but sometime ago while coming from Cotonou where I normally go to buy things and resell in Zaria, we were robbed and both my car and the goods gone. This was what actually led me into this,”he confessed.
Also confessing, Lawan, a welder, said he was lured into the crime by Aiyedun who told him that they were only going to collect car from his elder brother.//Gobroadsheet//
According to him, “I don’t know anything about it. They just invited me to join them and take the car from his brother. I am into welding and fabrication and was at work when Bury came to invite me to go and have a drink. It was after we had finished drinking that we moved to Samaru and now we are here.”//Gobroadsheet//
In his own confessional statement, Ishaku, a Geology graduated from ABU, said he has been an applicant since graduation but regretted his action. He pleaded that government should tamper justice with Mercy. //Gobroadsheet//
