KANO, NORTHWEST NIGERIA
Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has called on the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje to shelve the idea of extending the tenure of State’s Head of Service (HS), Muhammed Awaal Na’iya.
A statement by the Council’s President, Comr. Isah Abubakar backed with proofs and make available on Tuesday noted that, the tenure of the HS had expired on the sixth of October 2018.
The Council expressed worry over alleged extension of his tenure by the state government for the next eight months for reasons not make public against the wishes of the people of the state even though he may be loyal to the governor alone.
The statement read, “youths of Kano state as viable stakeholders in the State’s developmental projects wish to draw the attention of His Excellency, the listening Governor and Khadimul Islam I to the illegality and unconstitutionality of the extension of the tenure of the Kano state Head of Service.
“We know, as a flexible and down-to-earth leader, you might have been deceived to extend the tenure of the current Head of Service against all laid down Laws and Rules of our Stare Civil Service.
“We are using this medium to humbly request that our Governor revisit that tenure extension as it violates all existing laws and practice. This call become necessary as the opposition have already position their propaganda machinery in the state and are paying attention to every detail and action capable of creating a storm in a tea cup.
“Also, on the other hand, the current Head of Service’ records of performance in office do not make him worthy of extension even if the laws allowed such.
“In lieu with all the aforementioned which are variable facts, we wish to call on His Excellency to without any hesitation terminate the appointment of the Kano state Head of Service and bring on board a capable hand that will strengthen the Civil service institution for optimal performance and effective service delivery while also endearing the Government in the hearts of the Kano state civil servants.”
