CSR: NB Plc Builds Emergency Ward, Donates 7 Boreholes To Host Communities

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is one way through which corporate organizations do give back to their immediate business environments and sometimes, remote environments depending on the needs that arise.
Lately, focus of these organizations, including Nigeria Breweries Plc, has been on developmental projects like education, health, water, sports and agriculture among others. This time around, Nigerian Breweries Plc built an accident and emergency ward at Gwamna Awan General Hospital, Kakuri, Kaduna South LGA, Kaduna State. The Company is also donating 7 boreholes to several Kaduna communities.
For these interventions, the State Government is appreciating the company for the kind gesture done to its citizens.
Deputy Governor Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Balaraba, who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Mohammed Baloni on Friday described water and health care as crucial to man survival.
“Water and health care are very crucial for human survival and this is why the projects of Nigerian Breweries Plc are important to Kaduna State,” she said.
Read her further, “after listening to the health interventions of Nigerian Breweries Plc over the years, and commissioning these projects, I must definitely say that the company is complimenting the State Government in Health Care Delivery which is the Government’s priority.
“Kaduna State under the able leadership of Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai has provided Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities in each Wards of the state and so for Kaduna South, you should have 13 Primary Health Care Facilities” She stressed.
Baloni, while charging the Hospital management on proper care of the facility, appealed to Nigerian Breweries Plc for a Special Baby Care Unit.
Medical Director, Gwamna Awan Hospital, Dr. Maryam Dangaru praised Nigerian Breweries Plc for the show of love promising to ensure that the emergency unit is properly maintained.
Earlier, the Managing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mr. Jordi Borrut Bel, represented by the Kaduna Brewery Manager, Mr. Abbey Ajayi said, “in line with our company’s Corporate Social Responsibility focus of Winning With Nigeria, we maintain strategic plans for communities within the area that we operate, thereby enhancing the quality of life of our community partners.
“The entire Kaduna State and in particular, Kaduna South community, being our host, are very dear to us. They ensure we operate our business without any hindrance. This, we have enjoyed since 1964. So, we should reciprocate by identifying with the cause of the well-being of our supportive host communities.
“It is my believe that this project will be historic to the health center and would be put into good use for the great people of Kakuri as well as to mankind, going by the important nature of this facility in saving lives”, he added.
He continued, “these 7 boreholes serve as testament to our enduring focus to provide the communities with clean portable drinking water.
“The boreholes directly impact over 100,000 families. These is key to the healthy wellbeing of our community partners. Water is life and we are a business that understands the importance of wate,” he said.
