Appointment of Ali-Modu Sheriff was a costly mistake – PDP youths
By Godwin Ekosin, Kaduna
Following the appointment of erstwhile Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as Chairman of opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), North-west youth wing of the party, yesterday described the development as a huge mistake, hence the need to replace him fast.
A youth leader and the North-west coordinator of PDP youth wing, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmadu, said Ali Modu Sheriff’s appointment was illegal and should not be allowed to stand.
According to him, the leadership of the party was still trying to remain in the past when other political parties were moving with current reality.
Ibrahim, who stated this yesterday while addressing newsmen in Kaduna, added that the PDP had once again missed the point by its latest appointment of the controversial Borno born politician without stakeholders approval.
According to him, “appointment of Senator Ali-Modu Sheriff was illegal and should not be allowed to stand. As far as we are concern as youths in the PDP, we found the appointment of the senator as an affront and insult on the sensibility of all members.
“His appointment has caused more havoc on the party as some leaders of the party and a former president have condemned the appointment.
“We want to call on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to come together and salvage the PDP from total collapse and humiliation.
“It has become necessary for all of us to put our house in order in order to be able to wrestle power from the current All Progressives Congress (APC) government at all levels in 2019,” he opined.
