APPEALS Project: Justice Zailani Heads Kaduna Grievance Redress Committee

Former Chief Judge of Kaduna State, Justice Tanimu Zailani on Friday appointed by the State government to chair the Grievance Redress Committee (GRC) of the Agro-processing, Productivity Enhancement And Livelihood Improvement Support Project (APPEALS) in the State.
The legal bigwig was to work with other members of the committee which include but not limited to Yahaya Aminu, Dr. Habib Tukur, Mr. Musa John (NSCDC), Mr. Henry Jonathan and Mr. Ibrahim Yakubu, Alhaji Rufai Mohammed, Mrs. Tabitha Jummai, Mr. Habibu Lawal, Barrister Priscilla Akut, Mrs. Aisha Idris, Mrs. Farida Abubakar.
Inaugurating the committee at a hotel in Kaduna, Deputy Governor, who also Chairs APPEALS Project State Steering Committee, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe said, the Committee was an important element needed for the successful implementation of APPEALS in Kaduna State.
According to her, “Kaduna State is glad to collaborate with the World Bank towards driving our goal to transform the economy of the state through development of agricultural sector, to transit agriculture from subsistence to commercially viable and market-oriented business and attract investment into the sector to create jobs and improve standard of living of the people.
“The Project targets 10,000 direct and 50,000 indirect beneficiaries in the various segments of the value chains. Each of the value chains has high potentials for market driven sustainable development in the State.
“The APPEALS Project is a needed impetus to improve agricultural production, ensure food security, job creation and economic development in beneficiary states and the country.
“As a critical component of this project, this GRC will provide a mechanism for quick intervention in resolving any dispute and challenges that may affect the implementation of this laudable program that seeks to change the fortunes of thousands of beneficiaries in the state.
“On behalf of the government of Kaduna State, let me thank Honourable Justice Tanimu Zailani, the past Chief Justice of Kaduna State and other 14 members for accepting to serve in this committee.
“These are trusted personalities from different professions with impeccable record of hard work and dedication. I have no doubt that you will bring your wealth of experience in carrying out the mandate of this committee and ensure the success of this important programme for the progress of Kaduna state.
“Along with this Committee we are also inaugurating a 9mobile toll free-hotline (2773157) to serve as a dedicated channel of reporting grievances in the course of APPEALS project implementation in the state.
“Ladies and gentlemen, it is therefore my pleasure at this point, to inaugurate the Grievance Redress Committee and the toll-free hotline for the successful implementation of APPEALS Project in Kaduna State; to the glory of God and the benefit of our people.”
APPEALS is a World Bank project committed to enhancing opportunities for grievance redress, collaborative problem solving and alternative dispute resolution.
