NIGERIA –
Again, member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Yakubu Umar Barde, has described the murder of Angom Adara, HRH Maiwada Raphael Galadima as unfortunate.
The lawmaker also described the circumstances surrounding the killing of the traditional father as wake up call on political, traditional and religious leaders.
The lawmaker in a statement personally signed said, “we must be collective in condenming the act and to discourage all forms of reprisal actions from followers and subjects.”
The revered traditional ruler of the Adara Kingdom was recently kidnapped along with his wife. In the attack by the perpetrators, some of the Agom’s aides lost their lives. The incidence was widely condemned by well meaning Nigerians along with a call to security agencies to rescue him and his wife along with all those in captivity with him.
“Sadly, he was cruelly, gruesomely murdered before his rescue. This is indeed very unfortunate and horrific.
“It is with a heavy heart filled with sadness that I mourn the Agom Adara whose remains was said to have been found around Kateri, along Kaduna abuja express way.
“To say that I am deeply shocked at the killing is an understatement. I believe that there is no justification for such barbaric act. Those behind this and indeed similar incidences are the cancer of our society and must be cut off. These criminals are indeed and in all ramifications sub-human.
“The Agom Adara was a melting point of all peace loving people of Kaduna state. For his life to have been taken in such gruesome manner calls for sober reflection. It calls for collective condemnation by lovers of peace in Kaduna in particular and Nigeria in General.
.
“May I also plead with all opinion leaders, moulders and influencers to drop aside all sentiments and find a rallying point of reason. We must reason with our followership and subjects and spread a message of tolerance and peaceful coexistence in Kaduna and all of Nigeria.
“Government must ensure fairness. It should and must keep our security agencies on their toes to live up to their responsibility and duty of protecting the innocent and bringing criminals and those who encourage them to justice. These will go a long way in fostering sustainable peace in our society.
“To politicians, may I seize this opportunity to admonish us not to over heath an already heated polity. We should put partisan affiliation aside and discourage/change the negative narratives currently on the lips of many citizens and residents. Nobody should attempt to or indeed make political capital out of a clearly senseless crisis that should be condemned by all”, the lawmaker said.
He then prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and healing for the injured just as he urged residents and indigenes of Chikun/Kajuru and indeed Kaduna State whom he know to be peace loving not allow this unfortunate incidence to provoke them to breaking of the laws and disrespect for constituted authority.
