Report reaching Gobroadsheet from gubernatorial election in Akwa Ibom State Saturday evening said, one person believe to be loyal to ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the State was allegedly shot on the order of Senior Special Assistant (National Assembly matters) to President Muhammadu Buhari, Sen Ita Enang.
The unfortunate development was said to have taken place at Sen Enang’s unit 12, ward 2, Ibiono IBOM local government area of the state.
What really triggered the allegation was not clear at the time of filing this report, but it may not be unconnected to the fallout from the poll.
Akwa Ibom State politics has been heightened lately following the inability of Senator Goodwill Akpabio to secure a return ticket as he lost to a PDP candidate in his zone.
In a related development, there were reported cases of hijack of ballot boxes from some wards in Essien Udim.
“There was a coaster bus that conveyed the already thumb printed materials in favour of Sen Godswill Akpabio and escorted armed security men.
“Materials hijacked at Ukana East 1 and 2, Ekpenyong ward and few other units are currently being thumb printed at Ibanga Akpabio’s house in Ukana.
“The senator who arrived the INEC office in Essien Udim by 8.05pm in company of Idorenyin Akpabio, his brother and OC in charge of Anti Robbery in the state, has currently facilitated the bringing in of materials that earlier on, had been taken away from the INEC polling units in the area.
“The fake election materials were brought four times in an unmarked white Toyota Coaster Bus allegedly belonging to Sen Akpabio.
“He is suspected to have perfected plans to allocate at least 100,000 votes to his party APC, having earlier alotted 1,596 votes to his party in his unit,” a source who did not want to be named claimed.
