The abducted wife of the murdered Kaduna Reverend, Hosea. M Akuchi, Mrs Talatu Akuchi has regained her freedom from her abductors six days after, a family source told Daily Sun on Sunday.
But her freedom did not come so easily as ransom of N500, 000 was paid to the criminals before she was freed at undisclosed spot in Kaduna Saturday night, the source added.
Reverend Hosea M. Akuchi, who until his death was the Undershepherd in charge of Nasara Baptist Church, Kaduna, was gruesomely murdered by unknown gunmen last Monday in Kaduna and went away with his wife in the presence of their four children.
“Please be informed that our mother and sister, Mrs Talatu Akuchi was released to us Saturday night. She cannot talk to you now because she is in the hospital and she is also on medication. I really appreciate your concern during the trying time of our late Reverend and his family.
On whether any ransom was paid he said, “yes we paid money. We paid N500, 000 before we could secured her release. We went through hell to raised the money because we know what it means for a woman who suppose to be mourning her husband who was killed by the same people that abducted her would be going through.
“It is unfortunate. Everything happen so fast. Our government need to do more in term of security of lives and property across the country This was somebody we were together last week Sunday. Only for these criminals to stormed his house, killed him, abducted the wife right before the children and collected N500, 000 before releasing her to us. It is painful but we believe God will judge every one of according to our deeds”, the source added.
However, Spokesperson for Kaduna Police Command, DSP Yakubu Sabo confirmed via a telephone call that, she was released unhurt, quickly added that, Police was unaware whether any ransom was paid.
“Information reaching us confirmed that, the wife of the late Reverend, Mrs Talatu has been released last night unhurt and she has been reunited with her family. I’m not aware of any ransom”, Yakubu stated
