A-L-E-R-T: Lassa fever hits Kaduna, claims 4 lives

Kaduna State has just recorded first case of Lassa fever in the state with four persons already lost their dear lives to the outbreak.
Four victims, including a foetus, have been confirmed dead at the Saint Louis Specialist Hospital, Zonkwa, Zango Kataf Local Government Area of the State.
Commissioner for health, Professor Jonathan Nok confirmed the incident to newsmen on Monday.
According to him, a medical doctor, a nurse and a pregnant woman were involved.
The Dr. Added that the doctor and the nurse had shown signs of lassa fever shortly after they operated a pregnant woman who was brought in from another hospital in Kafanchan, Jama’a local government.
He said they all later died few days after they were tested positive to the deadly disease, adding that affected hospitals have been put under isolation with the intention of tracing the primary and secondary contacts with the deceased persons.
However, the commissioner urged residents not to panic as government is on top of the situation, just as he advised them to maintain personal hygiene around their homes.
