A governorship aspirant under the umbrella of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in kaduna state, Saeed Haruna has declared his intention to compete for number one political office in the state come 2019.
He told his teeming supporter in the state yesterday that, his intention to run for the governorship position was burn out of the need to rescue the state from sinking ship saying, Governor Nasir El-Rufai-led State government has disappointed the electorate.
He was of the view that, the policies of the state government since 2015 have been against people quickly added that, more citizens have become criminals and impoverished under the current political dispensation.
As former Accountant General of the state, Haruna believed he was in the best position to manage the resources of the state to the betterment of all, calling on the good people of the State to trust SDP with their mandate comes 2019.
“In the first instance nobody would aspire for a position that is not vacant because Kaduna state citizens have shown their interest of replacing the current leadership that is why I have accepted the call, otherwise I would not need to contest if citizens were not asking for a new leadership.
“Therefore it is not me, perse but the question of the Kaduna state people are committed to having a new leadership, therefore all I have done is to answer the call of the people.
“The challenge is not mine but that of the people. The only thing that we may be called upon to contribute our quota are those aspects of politics of buying votes, trying to use force where there shouldn’t be. That is where certain leadership need to say no to this kind of politics. But by and large, it’s the question of vote that the people of Kaduna state are desirous of changing the leadership.
“In all aspects of governance, the people have seen defects and therefore have highlighted areas and all we need to do is to enforce our own approach to be sure that we give the people what they want.
“The Kaduna state government under Nasir El-Rufai has a disconnect with the people. The first thing that is required is to build that confidence and bring them back to appreciate the government and those in authority”, he added.
