Veteran Journalist and Kaduna based publisher, Mr Mordecai Sunday Ibrahim has joined the race for Kaduna State House of Assembly (KDHA) for Kachia constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
At a formal declaration by the state assembly hopeful at the party secretariate in Kachia, Kachia local government area of Kaduna State, he assured to provide qualitative representation if given the party mandate and eventually elected as their representative at the luggard House.
According to Mr Ibrahim, his aspiration is born out of the desire to provide proactive representation that would translate to attracting dividends of democracy to Kachia Constituency.
“I was moved to join this race for the State Assembly out of my burning desire for an inclusive consultative and proactive representation. To my mind the Kaduna State House of Assembly is a place that requires business-like representation, as it would take only a member with a business mind-set to be able to lobby and bring to the people of our constituency the good but very limited and highly competitive dividends of democracy available in the state,” he said.
He explained that his mission if given the mandate, is to provide credible representation through organising quarterly consultation and promotion of respect and value for the collective good and interest of people of the constituency.
Ibrahim who is the publisher of monthly magazine, New Impression, said that with the support of the stakeholders of the constituency, he intends to ensure sponsoring bills that will ensure schools in Kachia LGA are returned to their former status of providing quality education.
“I shall use my connection in Kaduna State and across Nigeria to bring well-to-do Nigerians (philanthropists) to help build skills acquisition centres where our youths and women can learn and acquire skills in vocations such as carpentry, computer operation, cosmetic making, tailoring and fashion design, electrical installations, repair of refrigerators and other skills that would help the trainees to be able to ‘catch their own fishes’ rather than waiting to be given fishes by politicians who would eventually use them as thugs during elections,” he stressed.
He urged the LGA party executives to shine their eyes and critically examine the aspirants with a view to electing quality candidates for positions in the state and federal constituencies.
Earlier, Coordinator of the Mordecai Campaign Organisation, Musa Sauda thanked the leadership of the LGA executives for their zeal and doggedness in keeping the party’s flag flying in the LGA. He appreciated them for supporting their candidate, in spite of being one of the last to indicate interest.
Vice Chairman PDP Kachia, Monday Gajere whonstood for the Chairman whom he said was unavoidably absent, said that the executives and delegates from the LGA would support Ibrahim in ensuring that PDP reclaims its mandate at the state assembly.
He also charged Ibrahim that in the event that he loses at the primaries, he should remain in the party and support the party in winning at the general elections.
“We are giving you permission to visit all the wards and delegates to seek their support so that on the day of primaries, they would all give you their mandate. All other contenders are from Jaba like you as such they are your brothers, so we want the politicking to be rancour free,” he admonished.
12 ward chairman of the LGA and the lovql government executivea were present at the declaration amidst other party members and well wishers of the aspirant. Highlight of the declaration was prayers offered for Mr Ibrahim by the entire executives and members present for him to succeed at the primaries and the general election.
