2019 1 Div GOC Finals: Divine FC Humiliates NAF Bombers With 4 Goals To Nothing

Divine Football Club has emerged the winner of the 2019 edition of the General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigerian Army Youth Football Competition held in Kaduna Sunday’s evening.
Divine FC in a fierce competition that started on Monday, October 28 and ended on Sunday at Ribadu Cantonment Sports Arena in Kaduna November 3, defeated the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) bombers with 4 goals to nothing to lift this year’s trophy.
The General Officer Commanding, Major General Faruq Yahaya, had a few weeks ago, empowered 345 women and youths in his empowerment programme aimed at addressing youth restlessness within and around the Division’s franchise barracks.
Although the GOC owns the competition which as captured in his appointment, “it is nonetheless put together in the spirit of the Vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai, which is to have a professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional roles,” the GOC restated.
Acording to the Army Officer, many of the youths in the barracks are energetic which should be harnessed for nation building and to win laurels for the nation, hence his unwavering interest to support a course that may lead to their great discovery through sporting activities.
On the choice of selection for participation he said, “I am also aware that the situation in Nigerian Army Barracks could be the same in the barracks of our sister services, the Nigeria Police and other Security agencies.”
Earlier, Garrison Commander, and Chief Host of the tournament, Brigadier General Jimmy Akpor, commended the GOC for the provision of funds to make the competition a reality.
The 12 football teams that participated in the competition which were majorly drawned from security agencies included Divine FC, Gallant FC, Obaje FC, Dalet FC, Air Force Bombers FC.
Others are Corectional FCYoung Shining Starts, Junior Police Machine FC, Junior Defenders FC44 Pillars FC, Celfic FC and DSS FC.
Each participating teams went home with a set of Chelsey, two footballs and N30, 000 as paltry prize while the overall winner, Divine FC went home with a set of Chelsey, two footballs and N75,000 cash prize.
