We’re upgrading Nok, Kagoro hills to attract foreign investors – El-Rufai

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai Thursday said the state is partnering foreign investors to upgrade Nok and Kagoro hills to world heritage centre.
Governor El-Rufai stated this through his Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Daniel Danauta while addressing a press conference at the Kaduna Correspondent Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ on the affairs of the Ministry in the last 365 days.
Danauta said presently not less than 200 tourist visit the Nok site every week hence the need to develop the center into a tourist site and economic circle instead of the usual academic tour of the site.
He continued when he said already the kagoro hills was identified by investors from China.
He however said that the state government as part of its commitment to turn the site to a favourite global tourist destination, has captured the road leading to the top of the Kagoro hill in the 2016 budget.
According to him, “when me and my permanent Secretary visited the Nok and Kagoro hills recently, it was discovered that already not less than 200 foreign tourists visit the site every week.
“We want to turn the site from academic tour purpose into an economic circle. We want to develop the Nok center into a world heritage centre.
“we are partnering with international investors to develop it into a world heritage centre. We see it as an opportunity to develop it. These will also go a long way to provide employment when developed,” he said.
However, in the area of sporting affairs of the state, the commissioner said it inherited a football club, Kaduna United FC at a pathetic point and on the verge of collapsing.
