Acting Chairman of Nigerian leading anti-corruption agency Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu on Thursday in Kaduna beat his chest that now is the time to fight corruption if Nigeria must progress the way it should.
The controversial Magu in an interview shortly after the commissioning also pleaded with Nigerian to support its ongoing onslaught against corruption in the country because the menace is even threaning the unity of the country in recent times more than ever before.
Magu, who was in Kaduna to witness the official commissioning of Kaduna office of the commission by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo who was represented by the State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai however declined to comment on face-off between and the national assembly over his confirmation as substantive EFCC boss.
The fearless security experts hinted that, he derived a lot of encouragement to face corruption squarly because of encouragement and commitment he is getting from President Mohammadu Buhari and his vice, Osinbajo.
According to him, “when you are fighting corruption, there is a cardinal principle you need to fight corruption successfully and that is the commitment and goodwill of political leadership.
“Here we have the commitment because both Mr. President and his vice are doing and there is no two way about it. That is all encouragement you need to move on in this fight to safe our dear country. That was why I said if we must fight corruption, it is this time.
“But we must all joined hands together and safe this country from disintegration because even the unity of the country is been threatened by corruption. Nigerians should expect more and they are also key in this campaign by helping security agencies with intelligence”, Magu stressed.
