Shehu Sani faults El-Rufai over sack of 4,766 district, village heads
Senator representing Kaduna central in the upper chamber of National Assembly, Shehu Sani has faulted the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai’s decision to send packing over 4,000 district heads and village chiefs due to his inability to pay their salaries and allowances any further.
The senator also described the allegation of awarding contracts to governor’s family members and friends as a taboo any serious government should not involve in.
Speaking to newsmen in Kaduna on Sunday, the lawmaker called on El-Rufai and his team to rescind the decision saying that, there is enough money to pay the traditional rulers.
“My position is that am oppossed to the dropping of this 4,766 district heads, for the very fact that they are a very strong instrument of peace and unity. I call on the governor to rescind that decision. Their is enough money to pay them.
“In that sense, it is appalling to insult the PDP, the Ramlan Yero, Makarfi, Yakowa government of corruption in Kaduna State and right here in the state you have public office holders submitting companies slot for contract .
“We should understand it is not about 3 billion Naira. There are ethical issues concerned, a civil servant is not allowed to be a contractor.
“t is nepotism to send your son, your wife to do contract. It is against the code of conduct. Code of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for an elected Public Civil servant officer holder to engage in contract. that is very wrong”, he added.
