Senatorial nominees: Amina Mohammed will make it if
By Segun Ayobami, Kaduna
AHEAD the Ministerial portfolio appearance before the Senate today, Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district, Senator Shehu Sani, has said he has no personal reasons to kick against the nominee from Kaduna, Amina Mohammed if she is morally upright and meets the constitutional requirement.
Part of constitutional requirement that arose questions from different quarters against the nomination of Amina Mohammed is the part that state that a minister shall come from each state of the federation and such nominee must be indigene of such a state.
Activist turned politician Senator added that whoever is going to serve as a Minister in the present administration must be above the board both in character and moral standards.
Shehu Sani stated this while fielding questions from journalists shortly after flagging-off empowerment programme for about 3,400 women in Kaduna yesterday.
He said no ministerial nominee should be afraid of screening if they don’t have any skeleton in their cupboard.
According to him, “whoever is going to serve as a Minister must be above the board; must be a man or woman of character and moral, one who is fit to represent Nigeria so he or she can be current of change of the present administration.
“They have been screened by the Security agents and maybe by the executive arm. It is now the parliamentary screening that will allow Nigerians to hear from those who will be representing them at Ministerial level and ask questions that are relevant to the Nation.
“There is a need for meticulous training for who is going to be a minister.
“When you don’t have skeleton in your cupboard, you have nothing to fear before the senate.
“As long as Amina Mohammed meets all the necessary requirements, she will scale through the senate screening,” Shehu Sani said.
