NIGERIA –
Senator representing Kaduna senatorial central in the red chamber of National Assembly, Shehu Sani on Tuesday formerly flagged off his re-election campaign amid marmot supporters.
Shehu Sani, who recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to People’s Redemption Party (PRP) due to what he described as anti-people policies of his former party in the state under Governor Nasir El-Rufai said, the 2019 election would be between bondage and freedom, urging Nigerians to eschew sentiments and vote credible individuals.
Activist turned politician who stormed the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat in Kaduna unannounced added that, his interest for reelection was to further give his constituents responsible voice in the hallow chamber quickly added that, the senate was not meant for retired governors and puppets.
“I must apologise for the unannounced of my presence here at your secretariat. As one of you, I don’t see the reason of informing you that I’m coming here.
“I have formerly flagged off my campaign to seek reelection of my position as lawmaker representing the Kaduna senatorial district. You have been going to meet the candidates, but I dim it fit to be here instead.
“My presence in the senate for the last three years has proven that, you don’t have to be there for a long time to make impact. The senate needs people that are intelligent and independent before they can make decisions that will influence the lives of their people positively.
“The choice in 2019 is going to be between bondage and freedom. It is going to be between those that want to remain in Egypt with Pharaoh and those who want to get out of Egypt. Kaduna central senatorial district is not for sale. You need people who can speak for you. You don’t need puppet.
“The senate should not be a retire home for governors. It should not be place for people who are only loyal to the governor. The people of Kaduna need deliverance. In the last three and a half years, the people of Kaduna have witnessed the tyrant, arrogant of power. You don’t need leaders who will continue to use the divide and rule tactics.
“APC in Kaduna has failed. It has failed as a ship that can deliver you to your promised land. Kaduna is ruled by one person who is the beginning and the end of the party.
“People in PRP are people of honour and integrity. My bid to seek reelection is to continue to protecting your interest in this district and beyond. I joined PRP because it is the party with ideology that I support. PRP has no presidential candidate. You are free to choose anyone to represent you at that level”, the lawmaker said.
