Sani threatens court action against factional APC in Kaduna over allege suspension
By Godwin Ekosin, Kaduna
Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has threatened to sue group of unrecognized persons parading themselves as party’s executive members in the state over alleged suspension as reported in the media.
It is no longer news that parallel factions of All Progressives Congress (APC) have emerged in Kaduna shortly after March 28 and April 11 2015 presidential and gubernatorial elections respectively.
Activist turned politician, has declined to honour what he called purported invitation to appear before a kangaroo committee over his involvement in allege anti party activities today.
Briefing newsmen on the development in Kaduna on Wednesday, Senior legislative Assistant and Director-General of Shehu Sani campaign organization, Honourable Rabiu Khaleed, alleged that the so called exco members are acting on Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s bidding to further disintegrate the party in the state.
According to him, if at all there is new acting excos in the state or change in the party’s office address as contained in the letter head of the cooked-up invitation, Senator Sani as a party stalwart in the state should have been properly briefed.
His words, “we do not recognize the purported exco. The so call state excos are acting on state governor’s bidding. Senator Sani as a senator from the state is not aware that the APC leadership has new excos. Shehu Sani will not honour any kangaroo invitation.
“We have to understand that a lot of supporters are not happy. The party has been hijacked by a smaller group who now act from government house. Already, the party in the state has been in disarray and split and if care is not taking, it might turn out to be a serious problem.
“It is only when they want to act on behalf of the state governor, they will act like puppet to carry out their master’s instruction.
“So Sen Shehu Sani will not honour any invitation by purported group who parade themselves as excos as you all aware that APC excos is more or less in existence for now in the state because 11 of its leadership are now in state executive including the deputy governor who was the chairman.”
He further explained that before now, the senator ought to have been invited regarding either a change in leadership or address of the new office as contained in the letter-head used.
“What they termed as anti party is his background as activist. If the government is taking policies against the people of the state and Senator try to offer advice. They have forgotten that constructive criticism is the lubricant of democracy that can help people in government do well and that is what they are calling anti party.
“They should understand that no person as been supportive to presidency like Shehu Sani. They are only talking because of their ignorance in national polity.”
