N’West Volleyball Tourney: Kano, Kaduna wins U-17 boys, girls

Kano State male team has emerged winner of the second edition of the Engineer Musa Nimrod sponsored North West U-17 Volleyball Competition which ended at the weekend in Kaduna.
In the same vein, Kaduna State Female team defeated their counterpart from Kano and Jigawa to pick the trophy in that category.
Kano State team won all their matches picking the maximum 12 points while Katsina and Kaduna state teams trailed behind with 9 and 6 points respectively picking the second and third positions.
While Zamfara state won only one of their matches with 3 points, Jigawa State team where not lucky to pick any point as they lost all their matches and ended up at the bottom of the ladder.
In the girls category, Kaduna State team won their matches picking the maximum point of 6 while Kano picked 3 points having lost one of their matches, again the Jigawa female team ended at the bottom of the ladder after loosing all their matches.
Speaking on the tournament, the Zonal Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Alli Bode Durotoye expressed satisfaction with the performance, disclosing that no fewer than 16 very good players have so far been discovered and will be given the required support.
The sponsor of the tournament, Engineer Nimrod said, he is committed to building up younger players for tomorrow which he said is yielding results presently.
He disclosed that some of players discovered at the grassroots are already getting national and international recognition.
Kaduna, Kano, Zamfara, Jigawa and Katsina State participated in the male category while Kaduna, Kano and Jigawa states featured in the female category.
Kebbi and Sokoto did not participate in this edition. Some schools in Kaduna also took part in the school category.
