Niger 2016 Election: Voters’ registration commences in Nigeria

Ahead the February 21st general elections in Niger, Federal Republic of Niger has commenced voter’s registration exercise in 18 approved centres across Nigeria. This is to enable Nigeriens in diaspora to actively participate in the elections
Secretary-General, Niger Community in Nigeria, Sidi-Ghabit Ahmat Tarwaq, who informed the media in Kaduna shortly after the commencement of the exercise, said there are 18 centres across Nigeria for the exercise.
Sidi-Ghabit, who is also the Chairman, Commission Electorale Nationale Independante, electoral body of Federal Republic of Niger in diaspora, comprising Nigeria, Gabon, Congo and Cameroon, said the voters’ registration exercise will afford Nigeriens in diaspora the opportunity to cast their votes on election day in Nigeria.
“I’m calling on all Nigeriens in diaspora to come out enmass to be registered as this will enable them vote candidates of their choice during the election.
“There are 18 centres across Nigeria for the exercise. Visit any centre close to you for registration”, Tarwaq said.
The exercise which commenced on February 8, will end on February 10, 2016.
