NGO distributes over 60 blankets to Kaduna blind persons

Kaduna-based Non-Governmental Organization, Knowledge For The Blind Initiative (KFTBI), has distributed blankets to Kano road blind community camp in Kaduna to soothe the present skin cracking harmattan weather.
Chairperson of KFTBI, Professor Elsie Samaila said that the organization is aimed at assisting the blind people and educating them in western education so they can improve their economy and add value to the nation’s GDP, appealing to them to embrace western education by going to school.
In her words, “enrollment of blind people into school is essential to enable them shake off their handicap, and live a better life to help their parents in return.
“The KFTBI empowering scheme for the blind will be continuous to help them not to live a poor life.
“The NGO has equipped library, teaching and learning materials to educate the blind as well as assist those among them to gain admission into secondary and tertiary institutions.
Similarly, the Coordinator of KFTBI, Mr. Andrew Gani Ikilama decried the attitude of Nigerians towards helping the blind to give them succor and push to move on and overcome their challenges.
He called both the Kaduna State and the Federal Government to allocate annual grant for this group of Nigerians.
The KFTBI is a charitable organization for the blind, assisted by individuals and charitable organizations including religion bodies.
