Plans by All Progressives Congress (APC) Kaduna Chapter, to suspend the Senator representing Kaduna Central, Senator Shehu Sani from the party over the prolonged varying governance ideologies between him and State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, have been uncovered.
The party, through members suspected to be loyal to the Governor had Wednesday wrote the Senator, inviting him to appear within one week before a disciplinary committee set up by acting acclaimed party’s Chairman in the state, Shuaibu Idris, to clear himself over the allegation of anti party stand.
Speaking at a conference on Tuesday, Kaduna APC Spokesman, Salisu Tanko Wusono expressed displeasure that Senator refused to accept the letter.
He threatened Sen Sani to appear before the committee within the stipulated time or “face wrath of the party.”
But in a swift reaction, Sen Sani, according to his Senior Special Adviser, Political and Ideology, Comrade Suleiman Ahmed, rejected the invitation letter because he neither know the person who signed nor party’s office address contained therein.
“If the address of the party office in Kaduna he knew has been changed, Senator Shehu Sani was to be informed, in the same vein if an acting chairman was appointed, he should have been notified,” Ahmed stated.
Meanwhile, he maintained that because he was not notify about the APC acclaimed state chairman and secretary, he would not respond to their invitation.
Ahmed who insisted that the current acclaimed chairman and secretary of APC in Kaduna are mere extension of government house, accused El-Rufai of sponsoring them to suspend the senator out of fear of his overwhelming popularity and performance.
He emphasized, ” From now till 2019, Senator Shehu Sani will continue to challenge any El-Rufai policy suspected or adjudged to be anti masses.”
When contacted via phone to speak on the matter, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign and Local debts, said a situation where the APC is factionalized in the state, has made it difficult to know which of the executive set up the committee to invite him, describing the invitation as a cooked plan to smear his good name.
“It is obvious that some persons within corridor of power have hands in this purported invitation,” Sani maintained.
He then argued that until the party resolved its internal crisis, he would not appear before any committee, adding that he has not committed any offence to warrant such “sponsored invitation”.
