Kaduna Electric restores power to Kaduna community
//Press Release//
Residents of Birnin Gwari town in Kaduna state have finally heaved a sigh of relief Saturday when Kaduna Electric restored power supply to the town after three weeks of blackout.
Our investigation revealed that the 2.5 MVA power transformer hitherto serving the town failed on the 17th of last month, thereby putting a substantial part of the town in darkness until the electricity distribution company finally restored power supply to the town.
The chief Engineering and Technical services officer of Kaduna Electric, Engineer Bello Musa while confirming the development, disclosed “a new 7.5 MVA power transformer was technically commissioned in Birnin Gwari yesterday”.
Engineer Bello further revealed that “even though the project an NIPP one, the company’s engineers worked round the clock to ensure the installation of some vital accessories and subsequently energized the transformer.”
He appealed to the well meaning people of Birnin Gwari, especially community leaders to stop illegal connections and unauthorized tampering with power supply installations by some disgruntle elements in their midst, to save the new transformer.
Engineer Bello also called on the benefitting customers to reciprocate the gesture of the company by living up to their responsibility in terms of prompt settlement of bills.
He assured that similar projects going on in Saminaka, Kaduna state; Gusau, Zamfara state; Sokoto and Birnin Kebbi in Kebbi state have reached advance stage and hope to commission them soon.
