‘Kaduna Declaration’: NYSC assures corps members of their safety
Following the ‘Kaduna Declaration’ by some groups of Northern youths that Igbos should vacate the North within three months, authority of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has called on corps members across the country to be rest assured of their safety.
This was contained in a statement signed by Director (Media and Publicity) of NYSC, Abosede Aderibigbe and made available to media on Tuesday.
The statement read, “the Management of the National Youth Service Corps wishes to assure Corps members that it remains committed to ensuring their safety wherever they are serving in the country.
“This assurance becomes necessary in view of the recent sensational remarks credited to some sectional groups.
“Management is in constant liaison with state governments, security agencies and other relevant stakeholders with a view to ensuring that our Corps members carry out their national assignment without let or hindrance.
“Corps members as well as their parents and guardians are, therefore, enjoined to remain calm as proactive steps are being taken to ensure their safety and general welfare are not compromised”, it added.
Furthermore, as we encourage Corps members to go about their normal businesses, we advised them to, as usual, continue to be security-conscious and to report any suspicious movement to the appropriate authorities.
