Oodua Youth Parliament (OYP) and South West Youth Parliament (SWYP) on Thursday hinted that their joint decisions to honour the Chief Executive Officer of Destiny Crest Engineering Limited, Muibi Hammed, 29, with most outstanding personality award 2020 (youth category) were due to his contribution towards reducing youth employment in the country.
To these groups, Hammed was contributing to the development and growth of the country’s economy through massive employment especially in the Southwestern region where the company is domiciled.
Fielding questions virtually from journalists shortly the award was presented to Hammed, Speaker of OYP, Abdulmajeed Oyeniyi described the young engineer as “a philanthropist who has made a great impact in the southwest states – Lagos, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, and Ogun.
“Unlike other construction and engineering companies filled with foreigners across the country, Hammed has done us good by employing jobless youths who have finished from our higher institutions and were roaming about with job”, Oyeniyi said.
In a remark, the SWYP representative, Emmanuel Peter, called on the government and other well-meaning Nigerians to patronize Destiny Crest to get more Nigerians employed.
According to Peter, “what we saw in Hammed surprised us. As more organizations are laying off their staff due to shaking economy and many more shutting down, Destiny Crest is weathering the storm by getting more young Nigerians to move the country forward.
“So, we have decided to motivate him to strive to do better in creating a platform for our fellow youths to earn a living and at the same build up their working experiences to prepare them for greater responsibilities”, he said.
