El-Rufai flags off skills acquisition centre in Kaduna, commends corps member for initiative

Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai Thursday 21st April, 2016, flagged off the construction of skills acquisition center at Kujama, Chikun Local Government Government area of the State.
The skills scquisition centre is a Community Development Service (CDS) project of a corps member, Mercy Amarachi Samuel, KD/15B/0535.
Represented by the Director NGO/NYSC, Engr Jonah Gandu, Ministry of Youths, Sports and Culture, the Governor pledged the support of the state government to assist corps members embarking on meaningful CDS projects that will touch the lives of rural communities.
Governor El Rufai called on sons and daughters of Chikun L.G to support the project to ensure speedy completion.
In his brief remarks, the NYSC State Coordinator, Prince Mohammed Momoh, highlighted the importance of CDS, noting that CDS is one of the cardinal programmes of NYSC and with the large turnout of community leaders, he was rest assured that the CDS project has received the blessing of the people and will be sustained.
Also speaking, the interim management committee chairman of the Council, Hajia Hadiza Ladi Yahuza, who was ably represented by her Vice, Hon. Bartholomew Shina, called on the wealthy individuals in the local government to support the corps member with financial and material donation to enable her complete the project as a tree does not make a forest.
Hajia Yahuza used the event to appealed to people of the local government to remain peaceful and law abiding as there can never be any meaningful development in a chaotic environment.
Earlier, the initiator of the project, Mercy Samuel, said that the construction of the skills acquisition centre will contribute to the manpower development, wealth, job creation and economic growth of the people of Chikun L.G in particular and Kaduna state at large.
When completed, the centre will train over 1,000 women and unemployed youths in different skills such as cosmetics and soap production, shoes and bags making, hair dressing/ barbing, computer operation and engineering among others.
There were goodwill messages by Member representing Chikun in the state house of assembly, His Royal Highness, Sa Gbagyi the First and Zonal Director of NTA.
