El-Rufai apologises to innocent civil servants over delayed salaries

Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai Tuesday apologised to civil servants in the state whose salaries are yet to be paid due to ongoing verification exercise.
The governor, who spoke through his Commissioner for Budget and planning, Mohammed Sani Abdullahi while addressing newsmen in Kaduna, said, it is not intensional that some civil servants are to be cleared for salaries.
According him, “we apologise to those civil servants innocently affected by the non- payment of their salaries which was as a result of fishing out ghost workers in the state.”
The commissioner, who did not rule out the possibilities of tooting problem in the transformation process said efforts are being made to correct the mistakes which will later turn to good of everyone living in the state.
He equally observed that the good intention of the government is being sabotaged at some points by saboteurs who feel uncomfortable with the system which is no longer business as usual.
“If we don’t stop the rise of ghost workers in the state, in the next one year, we may not be talking about Kaduna State, yes we make mistakes because we are human, we are equally faced with the activities of saboteurs” he stressed.
He further restated that, governance in the state is no longer going to be tea and biscuit business as the case with previous administrations, adding that government spending is being restructured based on priority.
Meanwhile, he informed that efforts to address the salary payment of innocently affected civil servants in the state is being looked into while emphasising that government will not relent in its determination to weed out ghost workers from the state payroll.
