Senator representing Kaduna Senatorial District, Shehu Sani has pledged scholarship support to the four Children the murdered Kaduna Reverend, Hosea. M Akuchi.
Akuchi, who until his death was the Pastor in charge of Nasara Baptist Church, was gruesomely murdered by unknown gunmen last Monday in Kaduna and went away with his wife who is still in their custody.
A source within the family told Daily Sun that, as at Thursday, poor communication network has made it difficult to hear from the abductors of Mrs Talatu Akuchi after demanding for N5 million ransom a day after she was abducted.
The lawmaker had visited the deceased’s family house in Kasuwan Magani, Kujama, the headquarters of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, to condole with the children and aged mother over the sad incident.
During that visit, Senator Sani who snicked into the area promised to support the education of the children of the deceased just as he lamented the spate of killings in the state saying “Kaduna State has been turned into the den of killer men who now carry out their dastardly act frequently.”
According to him, “unfortunately it happened to a Rev. who is out there to preach peace. Those responsible for the killing should be brought to book by government who is responsible for the protection of lives and properties. I’ll take the matter to Abuja and see how the family can be assisted because it’s the responsibility of the leaders to protect lives and properties.
“Even though you can kill someone, you cannot kill his religion. I am here as Senator representing the area, to sympathise with the family and the community.
“What matter most is not the dead but the good name because there is time to born and time to die and return to God the creator. Anyone who help orphans help himself because One-day you will die.
“I will seat with Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the family of late Pastor and support the family with something that will be deposited with CAN account for the children’s education.
Responding, the first daughter of the late clergyman and CAN officials, who accompanied Sani to the family house during the visit, appreciated the Senator for his feeling towards them.
