Groups under the auspices of Coalition Against Political Victimization (COAPOVIC), yesterday told leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) to call critics of President of the Senate Bukola Saraki, to order, warning that a house that divided against itself cannot survive.
The group noted that the development is already hampering the legislatures to concentrate on national assignment before them.
In a statement issued by Abdulsamad Amado and Nura Usman, President and Secretary respectively, the Coalition regretted that what has been happening in the last few months are blatant display of disregard for the sanctity and independence of the legislatures.
The statement read, “wee have been observing with kin interest, the campaign of calumny and series of victimization against the legislative arm of government and in particular, the person of Distinguished Senator Bukola Saraki.
“We must also point out that it is very wrong for the executives to be pitching the Nigerian masses against the legislatures by ways of portraying themselves as the saints while making the gullible masses erroneously believe that the legislatures are the bad eggs in the government.
“This is a very dangerous and wicked way of playing politics. It is unfortunate that some individuals have decided to gang up against the Senate President who have spent the better part of his life to serve the country.
“After all their lies, deceits and scheming aimed at stopping Saraki’s political growth failed. We are living witnesses to how they resorted to fabricating various forms of lies and frivolous allegations against Saraki.
“As an association of like minds who are against all forms of politically motivated victimization, we find it imperative and highly necessary to raise our voices against this shameful act.
“Consequently, we are calling on the APC to call all those behind the politically motivated victimization of Senator Saraki to other because a house that divided amongst itself cannot survive, added the statement.
