Leadership of Arewa Youth Assembly on Friday said its attention has been drawn to a photo banner posted on the Facebook wall of Senator Dino Malaye against constituted authority in Kogi state.
The Photo banner which read “Malami Shame on you’, ‘GYB Big Shame on You ‘, was allegedly sponsored by the Arewa Youth Assembly, which has been debunked by the Assembly.
A statement signed by Speaker of Arewa Youth Assembly, Muhammed Salihu dissociated the group from sponsoring or participating in the social disturbance.
According to Salihu, ” we never supported any act of criminality most especially from whom the younger generation of the North view as being disrespectful to the constituted authorities.
“Sen Dino Malaye has continued to make mockery of our highly respected Upper Chamber of the National Assembly.
“While, we view this as deliberate attempt to drag our organization into unnecessary blind support and insults on high and respectable member of the Federal Executive Council and a sitting Governor who have authentic mandate of the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to oversee their affairs, we wish to distance ourselves and our organization, the Arewa Youth Assembly from this criminal act of impersonation.
“It is very shameful for a senator of the to resolve to hiring thugs for promoting and inculcating unethical behaviors on youths who are supposed to learn from the Senator. This act is not none in the North and indeed any part of the country. Respect for elders and authorities is a pride to an Arewa Youth.
“This act of criminality and disrespect is an abuse on the collective interest of the Arewa Youths. This, we condemn in all ramifications. A situation where a Senator, will place himself in a position of a god, setting fellow Nigerians against themselves and creating disharmony is very disheartening.
“We therefore call on the public to disregard the photo banner and pray that God will erase such elements from the seat of power come 2019”, he said.
He however added that, the Arewa Youth Assembly leadership has call for an emergency executive meeting of the Assembly to address the issue and possibly institute a legal action on both the impostors and the propagator of the information, in person of Sen. Dino Malaye.
