Encomiums as Nigerian Breweries donates fourth school to Kano State

As part of its intervention in educational sector in northern Nigeria, the Nigerian Breweries PLC had built and donated a standard block of eight classroom, furniture, library and books to Kano school, Government Technical College, Gwale.
One of the first to appreciate the gesture of the company was the state Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who described the intervention as partner in progress saying, the gesture would make his jib easier.
Rpresentedthe by Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji with other top Government officials, the governor said, the State has over 3 million pupils in primary school being prepared for secondary and the only State with two State Universities but still has serious challenges in education which is the hope of the children in the state.
According to him, “Nigerian Breweries Plc which has donated the 4th school project in Kano State within five years will continue to succeed as it has succeeded in the past 72 years of its corporate existence because it is conscious of the people’s development via Education.”
While thanking the Permanent Secretary Servicom, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, for his initiative in sourcing funds outside budget for educational interventions, the Governor warned that the new school building must be properly managed.
Speaking on the value of the project to Kano Emirate Council, the Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II, represented by the Hakimi Gwale, Alhaji Yahaya Inuwa Abbas, said “the Company through Maltina has added value to Kano people through its corporate social responsibility platform. Maltina is no doubt our pride in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and other corporate bodies in the State should follow suit.”
In an address, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Jordi Borrut Bel, represented by Head of Government Relations, Vivian Ikem said “We are proud to be a veritable partner to Kano State. Kano is Special to us, as it supports us towards achieving our business success. Kano is home to Maltina in the North. And this year, we are having our fourth educational project in five years in Kano with the first in
Government Secondary School, Bachirawa, Ungogo Local Government in
2014, Government Girls Secondary School, Badawa in 2015, Government Technical College, Our Premier Technical School and today, GTC Gwale, another Technical School in Northern Nigeria”.
“This project adds to several other school projects that our company has embarked upon over the last five years across the North for the benefit of our immediate host communities and other locations where we do business. Our projects are done in diligent pursuit of our Corporate Social Responsibility goal of Winning with Nigeria: by being a responsive and distinguished corporate citizen of the States where we do business”, he stated.
Also speaking, the Public Affairs Manager, North, Mr. Danjuma John-Ekele lauded Governor Abdullahi Ganduje for his usual unalloyed support for the company and enhanced security for business to trive. He also commended the Emirate Council for working together with the host community that donated the land for citing of the project .
Other top Government officials at the event were the acting Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, who also heads the Works and Housing Ministry, Engineer Aminu Aliyu Wudil, Regional Program Officer for DFID, Hajia Nafisa Ado, who was represented by its Kano Reform Manager, Auwal Y. Hamza and the Executive Secretary Science and Technical School board, Alhaji Ahmad Tijani Abdullahi.
