Members of Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) on Thursday reacted angrily to recent submission of the Special Investigation Panel (SIP) set up by National Human Right Commission (NHRC), indicting both the movement and Nigerian Army in December 2015 bloody clash in Zaria that left scores dead.
The reaction came as a result publication in some national dailies, same Thursday 22 September, 2016, with the movement saying, the report did not come to them as a surprise.
The reaction, which was contained in a statement signed by National Coordinator, Save Zakzaky’s Life Group of Nigeria, Bashir Mafara noted, that “last year’s Nigerian Army’s massacre in Zaria is well known, not only in Nigeria, but worldwide.
“We weren’t amaze to read some portions of the recommendations of the so called NHRC, as we are confident they were already enveloped by the Nigerian government under the leadership of Muhammadu Buhari, with sort of amusements and bribes in order to turn the truth upside down and to leveled all the blames of Zaria massacre against the IMN and it innocent leader Shaik Ibraheem Zakzaky.
“We see it as barbaric as one of the recommendations of NHRC stated that: “Shaik Ibraheem Zakzaky should be tried in the court of law. Why? Are you instigating the Nigerian government to bring Zakzaky to the court of law? Accusing him for what? Are you accusing Zakzaky for sending your men to kill his six children within a year? Are you accusing him for sending your troops to kill over one thousands of his innocents followers and put them into mass grave? Or are you accusing him for destroying his house, and other properties of the IMN?
“Why do you recommend that IMN should tender public apology to the COAS and members of the public? How do you know actually that, IMN blockage the highway? Can you define what the highway means?
“Certainly, we believed that, this recommendations of the NHRC is nothing, but baseless, and the handiwork of some undesirable elements who are extremely blind in the scrambling of worldly things from the hands of those who are steering the affairs of the nation. We are confident, no sensitive individual or group can accept this childish and selfish recommendations by these bunches of puppets.
“Human right commissions anywhere across the world, have no mandate whatsoever, to pass judgment, but they stands as mediators, who oversees affairs and happenings, to sympathize and seek for justice, to give advice, not passing judgment. But in Nigeria, the National Human right Commission NHRC is judging issues in favor of their masters, not considering the oppressed ones.
For these reasons, the SAVE ZAKZAKY’S LIFE ORGANIZATION condemns the report of the NHRC, and sees it as baseless. It is just like “a child that play”.
