On Thursday afternoon, corpse of a middle aged man suspected to have been dumped by his assailant was discovered by fishermen and brought to the bank of river Kaduna in the State capital, North-west Nigeria.
The corpse, which was found by fishermen, who in turn invited men of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ) for onward investigation to probably identify his identity, was yet to be ascertained as you read this report.
Spokesperson of NSCDC in the State State, ASCII Orndiir Terzungwe confirmed the incident, “the fishermen on river Kaduna discovered this corpse and reported to us.
“Our men are there trying to identify the victim and the cause of his death. But it will be very difficult to identify the victim because the body has started to decompose. We cannot say what exactly happened as at the time I am talking to you. We are inviting National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to come help”, he said.
As at about 2 pm, the corpse which was already decomposing appeared burnt before it was allegedly dumped in the area by suspected ritualists.
It was observed that one after the other, passersby stopped momentarily on top of the Kaduna Bridge to catch glimpse of the corpse that was already overtaken by flies, as mattress, in which it was covered had been let-loosed.
As usual, the development eventually led to temporary gridlock along that axis but had disappeared before 6:59 pm of Thursday.
